Summary: Although they may not be huge fans of the summer heat, the one thing they can’t deny is that no matter how hot it gets, it’s still hard to be averse to being close to one another.

*Author’s Note*: This is one of my first warm up prompts, which basically just means it’s shorter than usual. I like to aim for at least 1000 words when I write stuff, which may not seem like a lot, but especially when I’m not feeling the best it can be quite the struggle. I haven’t written properly in about a month, mostly because, again, I haven’t been feeling the best, so I did a couple of these shorter prompts to try and get the gears turning again. Also, Saruhiko and I aren’t very fond of warm weather, and since it’s summer where I live, I decided to vent some of my frustrations a bit lol. I hope you enjoy!

Nova hugged Saruhiko’s arm as they strolled along, cheek glued to his warm skin, fingers dimpling the surface where they curled in against it. Her gaze occasionally lingered on the people passing by, but only in fleeting curiosity, like when something flashy or distinct flickers in the corner of your eye. The air was overwhelmed with suffocating sunlight as they meandered through the city, taking refuge in the shade of whatever buildings or people they could employ. Each inhale felt more like a curse than a relief, only serving to replace the breath that was heated from within with more of the same unpleasant air. Getting used to—or at least putting up with—hot weather was just another part of being human, although Nova supposed it would have been better if she framed that observation in a different, less hyperbolic way.
