Summary: Heading back from a routine visit to the Metaverse, the Phantom Thieves stumble across a threatening scene involving a Shadow chasing down a stranger that shouldn’t even have access to this world. Their leader takes initiative to save the poor lost and terrified individual, regardless of the risk.

Author’s Note: Since I already posted my Saruhiko piece and said most of what I wanted to there, I’ll just say this is the Ren half of my celebratory anniversary pieces! I can’t tell which one I think turned out better, and I kind of wish I could have done more with them both, but for now I’ll just say I think I’m satisfied with how they are now. There will always be time to write more in the future, after all (at least I hope), and thank you for reading!
__________

Their visit to the Metaverse was a routine one, or at least things had gone smoothly for them thus far. The hours had passed from afternoon to evening, and they were all starting to feel the fatigue of their prolonged exertion. Confronting Shadows and dismantling Palaces, their job as the Phantom Thieves of Heart never seemed to end. But that suited them just fine, the elusive and mysterious group of wayward souls that’d all crossed paths with each other as if by fate. They’d been dutifully fulfilling their unique and unfortunately necessary role for years now, one that waxed and waned but never completely faded away. Each time it seemed that their usefulness was tapering off for good, another incident would crop up, and they would rise to the challenge like they always did.

Summary: Nova and the Thieves gather together to celebrate a very special occasion, one that she’s honestly surprised (and relieved) she still gets to experience, even after all this time.

*Author’s Note*: Kind of a cryptic title, I know, but that’s nothing new for me. I know I haven’t posted anything in a while, but today is Ren’s bday! Well, it’s the 3rd anniversary of the original JP release of P5, and since all the other characters have official bdays, I decided to set this date as his! So I get to celebrate his birth (which kind of technically would be the game's release date anyway…) and the anniversary all in one go! ^_^ I can’t believe this game has been out 3 whole years already, holy moly…and come next February I will have officially been into it that long myself! It’s really exciting, but also I’m just glad to still have Ren in my life in any capacity, and I can’t wait to see what more Royal will have in store! Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy!
_____

It was an evening brimming with all the happiness and lightheartedness they could imagine, that they knew he more than deserved. Gathered on the first floor of the familiar cafe that doubled as their private HQ, the band of thieves shared drinks, food, and stories, coloring the air with a hum of talk and laughter. Music played idly in the background, blending with the various sounds that occasionally seeped in from outside, coalescing into the cozy ambiance they’d become so accustomed to experiencing here. Despite all the energy and enthusiasm buzzing about the room, the space didn’t feel chaotic or overwhelming. Everyone was too busy making the most of the celebration to notice anything like that, anyway, caught up in the festivities for the much anticipated date all of this had been arranged for, now that it had finally arrived.

Summary: Fighting for the good of humanity is a tall order, and sometimes Nova still finds herself hopelessly perplexed as to how Ren has managed to carry on even after everything that’s happened.

*Author’s Note*: It’s been a while since I wrote anything for my precious boy, but I’m so glad I was able to! This is kind of an homage to and reward for me making it through the entire game on my own! I’ve watched all the way through it before, so I knew the plot and everything, but I never actually managed to play through the whole game myself despite owning it. That is, until a few weeks ago, and I was inspired to write this as a result!! And also because I’m always sipping that “love my bf” juice lmao. I hope you enjoy! Also not sure if it’s obvious but this fic mentions serious endgame spoilers, I know the game’s almost been out for 3 years but like. Just in case lol.

She’d examined the objects proudly displayed on these attic shelves plenty of times. Various souvenirs and charms that he’d amassed over the years, tokens of experiences he preferred not to part with. She’d commented on and asked him about them plenty of times, too. Unfortunately, every time she laid eyes on them she couldn’t seem to stop the subconscious reaction that sparked in her mind. She couldn’t prevent the wheels of her thoughts from turning to the perilous journey he’d been on, revisiting the details of just how far he’d come from the edge of despair. Exploited at every turn, rewarded for his efforts by having his existence revoked from this world, facing a god born of the people’s will that wanted nothing more than for he and his friends to perish…sometimes she still struggled to wrap her head around it. She wondered if he still struggled to do the same.

Summary: Even when she finds herself cornered in a Palace, Witch can still rely on him without having to wonder or worry.

*Author’s Note*: A random short little thing, idk what’s up with me and getting myself in risky situations during Palace infiltrations lol. Good thing Ren’s always there to pick up my slack. I was inspired to write this after that one extremely short shot of Ren using a grappling hook to traverse a Palace in the P5R trailer. Of course my first thought was of him using it to save me…rip. I hope you enjoy!

Danger was staring her in the face, and there wasn’t much she could do to avoid it. Getting herself stuck in such an obvious, stupid position…sometimes she wondered if she had the right to claim she was above being a rookie. Other members of the team made bad decisions from time to time, sure, but when she was the one backed into a corner, she found her blunder impossible to excuse. They may have argued that she was just being too hard on herself, but who was she kidding, none of them made mistakes exactly this terrible. And she was sure that in this case any of them would have managed to find a way out by now, making the most of their experience and resourcefulness. Skills honed with years of execution and practice…just more evidence to support that she wasn’t cut out for this sort of thing.

Summary: Sometimes she finds it hard to keep her self-sabotaging thoughts at bay, but she also always has him to help her get back on track.

*Author’s Note*: Subtle summary and another fic that turned out differently than intended. It was meant to just be short and sweet, but then it got real introspective, but I didn’t want to leave things on a sour note, so…idk. I still like how it turned out and I do want to do my best to accept myself more, and Ren’s been helping me do that from the beginning…I’m still thankful for that and I think I always will be ;w; I hope you enjoy!

The day had been long and busy, but things were finally starting to wind down. Both the citizens and the city seemed subdued, preparing for the transition from natural light to neon. The sun’s rays deepened into shades of red and orange, ducking behind various buildings and casting long shadows over the maze of obscured alleyways and streets. Nova and her friends said their goodbyes, sending each other off with a series of waves and words of gratitude. She supposed her companions were probably going to go out for dinner, or indulge in some other evening activity, or perhaps even retire to their dwellings to recover from the day. She would be doing that soon enough, but she couldn’t return home just yet. She’d made plans to meet up with a certain someone; she wasn’t really interested in going back without him, anyway. He was the only thing she ever considered worth coming back for.

Summary: A predictable slew of flirty shenanigans ensues while Ren and Nova are out on an afternoon stroll.

*Author’s Note*: This turned out…quite differently than I anticipated, but I ended up not even following the plot I had planned. That’s alright though, because while I was editing this I realized…idk, it just sounded so. Genuine lol. So sweet. It’s the first piece in a while that’s actually made me feel good about one of my selfships, and just thinking about Ren’s smile only lifts my spirits more. We really are a mess when it comes to reassuring each other, though. I hope you enjoy!

The afternoon sun was bright and pleasant, but nothing could compare to the warmth in the hand she held. She knew it would have been more fitting to compare him to the moon or stars, the nighttime phenomena that reflected his mysterious, misleadingly reserved personality. But even when he was being coy and enigmatic, his eyes never failed to blaze with the blinding light of his conviction. Whether it be in the real world or the Metaverse, his expression often betrayed a hint of something fiercer, a chained beast kept subdued with the potential to wreak havoc at the slightest lapse of composure. It was an ambitious and driven and decisive flame, the confident air of a leader. Even if he hadn’t asked for such a role, that’s what he’d always been, suppressing a dormant desire that required just the right circumstances to be kindled. He’d managed to lead her into this new chapter of her life with ease, minus the road bumps she’d foolishly curated for herself, and she wasn’t sure if she’d ever be able to make things up to him in the way he deserved.

Summary: Joker and Witch get caught in the middle of a routine Palace scouting mission, but the outcome of being discovered by the guards turns out to be more magical than they expected.

*Author’s Note*: Weird summary but I promise it makes sense in the context of this fic. This is more like just a snippet of a Palace infiltration, an idea I’ve had for months if not a year, like I was definitely thinking about stuff like this back when I first got back into regularly shipping with Ren again. There’s no real fighting and it’s all about the atmosphere, and I hope I was able to capture it to a serviceable degree…thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy!

“It’s going to be okay, just stay close to me.”

His voice was like velvet, and she knew she needed to heed his words, but to an extent her mind was hollow. It was going to be impossible not to obey him, though, considering the circumstances. Frame pressed flush against his own, she could feel the warmth of their bodies seeping through their uniforms, mingling in the middle where they met. She was holding one arm up to mirror his own, while his other limb snaked around her waist and held her securely in place. She was at the perfect height for him to rest his chin on her head without having to make any adjustments if he so desired, and she made the mistake of peeking up at him on a whim.

*Author’s Note*: The first of my fics for my personal May Writing Challenge! I’d like to keep up with posting something every single day, but of course life is life and I never know what’s going to happen down the line, so. I’ll do what I can, but I’m proud for even having this to post, after all the P5R news my Ren love was reinvigorated a bit lol. I hope you enjoy!

In the heat of battle, anything goes. She was more than smart enough to know that. She’d experienced skirmish after skirmish against creatures that were only meant to exist in nightmares…perhaps that was what this place was after all. Just one huge nightmare realm of decay, deceit, and despair. It certainly housed its fair share of all those things, a seemingly endless maze of darkness that chronicled the dastardliest sides of humanity. That’s why it fell on their shoulders to keep the extent of that shadiness in check and ensure that those who stored an excess of discord in their hearts would be purged of both their sickness and their wrongdoings. Saving the unassuming masses by stealing the maliciousness in their hearts…that was the core of everything they stood for.

As my final introduction to this page, I decided to post my writing masterlist! Or repost it, I suppose. I usually host my fics on Tumblr, but this site seems to have a much better set up for it (which I why I made a page in the first place), so from now on I think I'll mainly be posting fics here and just linking them elsewhere.

I'll update the list periodically (usually once a month to cover the fics I've done over that time.) I tend to only feature the main 3 selfships I've written the most for, and I'm not sure if I'm ever going to go back and change that so every fic I've ever written is on this list, but for now I'll just keep it the way it is.

List under cut for length.

ALSO: the tags linked to the character names (the otp: blank ones) are the tags for those characters/selfships on my self insert blog. They usually contain posts that remind me of that particular F/O, pics of that F/O, and any writing I do for them!

Summary: Nova and Ren have a heart to heart about the year they’ve spent together, and what it means to them.

*Author’s Note*:
A fic I wrote for my one year anniversary with Ren, and wow I’m just. Wow lol. Happy, glad, surprised, happy again…I really do love him so much, and he’s done more for me than I can say. Even if it doesn’t make sense how a character can do anything for anyone, how they can affect someone on such a deep level, idk if even I can explain it. But it happened to me, with me, and I’m just so glad to know who he is and have him in my life. As a character, as a concept, he’s still doing things to help me accept more of myself and stop being so self-critical. This takes place in my AU ofc, the balcony is part of our apartment, and this ask explains a bit more about the first kiss disaster I mention because I have yet to write it lol, idk if I’ll ever manage to get around to it. Anyway, thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy!

_____

Propping herself up against the balcony’s railing, Nova caught sight of a comet as it sailed through the sky. A short lived, blazing arc of light that vanished out of existence almost as quickly as it had entered, at least from her perspective. The city was as lively as usual; the air was infused with rainbow hues of neon and the winding streets were populated by the type of people that thrived in the shadows the sun always left behind. A breeze blew by, ruffling her hair and cooling her face and thoughts. What a peaceful nighttime scene it was, a setting she’d come to love and appreciate, to take comfort in. This place had become a refuge for her, a safe space, a reliable retreat. It had also become her home, the place where she felt most relaxed, where she could breathe more easily than anywhere else.

Summary: After waking up from her exciting experience in the other reality, Nova finds herself drawn by some unseen force to understand more about the nature of that place, and the role she’s been fated to fulfill in it.

*Author’s Note*: This technically counts towards the First Meeting prompt for F/O February, but I don’t think I’m going to tag it because I didn’t write it with that in mind. It is a direct follow up to this fic. This is one of the most beautiful things I’ve written in probably over a year. It’s over 8,000 words, and I can’t remember the last time I wrote a single drabble/fic chapter or anything that was this long. I poured my heart and soul into this piece, wrote it in a day, edited it over the course of a week, reread it multiple times throughout that period. I know this isn’t going to get many notes, but I don’t care. If you can, please just read it. Or even just part of it. You don’t even have to comment, but I’m really proud of this, and I would love if people just gave it a look. I enjoyed writing and reading this immensely, and I hope it’s able to bring at least one other person some happiness, or encourage them to create something that means a lot to them, too.

_____

Nova awoke the morning after her strange, otherworldly experience safe and sound in the comfort of her hotel room. It felt like an eternity had passed. She slowly peeled her eyes open, squinting a bit at the bright sunlight streaming through the windows. How had she gotten back here? No, she remembered that. She could remember everything from that nightmarish episode, right down to the feel and smell of the man that had rescued her from certain doom. She sat up, rubbing her eyes before slowly lowering her hands and examining them. They were trembling; her heart was pounding. She still hadn’t recovered from the incident, and as more memories started to resurface with uncomfortable clarity, she tucked her knees against her chest.

Summary: Nova stumbles into the Metaverse, unaware of the danger that lurks within.

*Author’s Note* (Updated): Okay final one of these, I guess I lied :P I'm not going to update the original notes, so they'll make references to things like reblogs and stuff because everything was originally posted on Tumblr, but I don't see a reason to/have the energy to make them make sense now fjilesjges but I want to keep them because they are part of the original works.

*Author’s Note* (Previous): *EDITED* I reread this one shot a couple days ago and aside from loving it I realized it wasn’t really at it’s best. I went back and edited some aesthetic and grammar things and now I’m reblogging it as an updated piece. It’s still the same premise of a part 1 for Nova’s first meeting w/ Ren. The monster is supposed to be an ambiguous Shadow that was just there for me to play off of. The voice Nova hears is a good thing though. I hope you enjoy!

_____

The Metaverse is a strange, fantastical place. A parallel universe, a foundational building block within the framework of infinite interdimensional space. Nova didn’t have any experience with the Metaverse, nor would she have recognized the word if she casually heard it in passing. Well, that wasn’t entirely true, considering she had heard plenty of rumors about it back during the height of the Phantom Thieves drama. A group of mysterious, rebellious youths from Japan had somehow managed to refine a method of stealing the hearts of particularly nasty individuals who would subsequently repent and turn from their wicked ways. The Thieves unique actions ended up garnering international attention. Nova had been entranced by them at the time, inspired by their heroism and obsessed with learning everything she could about their ability to freely pass between the barrier separating reality from the unknown.
